My new Dell PowerEdge 2650 server arrives! Here it is, still in the box... surrounded by the kind of wreckage that Cole can create in 5 unsupervised minutes.

There were surprisingly few things in the box. A few worthless manuals, some CDs that I won't use, a power cord and a nice bezel for the front of the box.

The view from the front. 5 SCSI drive bays and a CD/floppy drive.

The view from the back. It's got all the usual components.

It comes with a slick bezel for the front that covers up the drive bays and has a puny little lock on it.

Of course the first thing I did was to pull the cover off and look inside. The two blue fans in the middle are on top of th e dual 2.4Ghz Xeon CPUs. Right in front of that is the 1GB of 200Mhz DDR RAM.

The 5 drive bays from the top. Right now there's only 1 73GB Ultra320 drive in there. I intend to jam a few more drives in there before I install it in the colo, though.

The inside of the case has a few nice little diagrams. I, of course, didn't stop to read them as I tore everything apart.
